2009First SCG graduate, Dr Anchalee Wongariyakawee.
2011Since 2011, CoE projects have resulted in nearly 100 publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
 So far, over 50 projects have been funded, amounting to over £20 million.
2012CoE was established, since then has been associated with over 20 Chemistry Professors, 30 Postdoctoral Research Fellows and many PhD students.
2015In 2015/16, 10% of all the new patent filings arising from the University of Oxford originated from the CoE.
 Prof. Dermot O'Hare was awarded an MPLS Impact Acceleration Account Secondment Fund Award to spend a sabbatical year with SCG Chemicals in Bangkok, Thailand.
2016Prof. Dermot O'Hare was awarded a Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division Impact Award in recognition of the creation of the SCG-Oxford Centre of Excellence in Chemistry.

2017Pilot plant for nanomaterial synthesis was opened as a joint collaboration between SCG Chemicals, University of Oxford and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology
2019The SCG-Oxford Centre of Excellence for Chemistry was named the 2019 winner of the prestigious Industry-Academia Collaboration Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry
 Framework research collaboration agreement between SCG and Oxford University was re-signed until 2025.
 SENFI was founded, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCG Chemicals Company (SCGC). It is based in Oxford University Science Park.
2020The Thai Ministry of Public Health, AstraZeneca, Siam Bioscience and SCG announced their intent to manufacture the University of Oxford's potential COVID-19 vaccine in Thailand. SCG were a key connector for Oxford and AstraZeneca during the global rollout of our COVID-19 vaccine, convening our Thai partners and enabling its distribution throughout South East Asia.
2022SCGC and Oxford announced the launch of SCG-FIRST, the fund for early-stage innovation projects (building on the success of the former SCG SIF Awards in Chemistry).
 

From 2022 onwards, SCG and the University of Oxford have agreed to expand the Centre of Excellence to fund collaboration beyond Chemistry and throughout all University Divisions. The work will centre on five themes:

2024Professor Dermot O'Hare has been awarded the Materials Chemistry open prize: John B Goodenough Prize for pioneering new concepts in materials chemistry, catalysis, and nanomaterials and promoting their application and commercialisation in sustainable technologies.
